I been out of the car audio scene for a while and dont know what would be good for my car to start competing in sound quality.. First time ever trying sound quality.. If you guys can help by giving me your opinions in best subs, amps, and mids and highs for this i would greatly appreciate it. Thanxxx

i like my kicker stuff, my system is built for sound quality and it is pretty loud and clean... all kicker

What kicker series are you using?

How about(for subs) JL audio w7's with the 1000/1v2. Not only is it a "tight" sub but loud as hell. Always playing crisp and clear.

I was thinking something less loud.. was thinking more of about two subs totalling around 1000w rms.. Are the mb quart mids and highs still top of the line in sound?

If your talking about truly competing, you need to look into more specialty lines. I've seen many many many winners use Cd tech, Cdtaudio.com. They are build for the truly SQ guys.

i've always been a big mtx fan, but diamond audio is some of the best equipment out there for crispness, clarity, & quality. & to answer your question, YES mb quart is still way up there as far as top of the line goes...

First off, if your going to get into sound quality competition, and haven't done it yet, I'm gonna let you know it takes more money to get clear than it does to get loud.

Second, JL Audio yes they do make a good set-up, but at loud volume they're hard to tune and get clarity, but they are loud. Kicker- hasn't iun my opinion been a good product since they decided to down grade and join MTX in the Circuit City world.

If you want to get into SQ and have a chance of winning, look into Image Dynamics and buy a set of their CD1 Horns, I think they have like 3 or 4 different types, not cheap but worth every penny in quality. Then there is an amp to push those, look into a Soundstream D60 II, it's an old school 2 channel, that's on;y about 40 watts. You don't need a lot to push horns.

Then you'll need a mid bass driver, you can run maybe a pair of 6.5, 7, or even small 8 inch subs, in the kick panels or floor. Then you need to buy one amp for each of those maybe something of 50 to 100 watts, you don't need an overzealous mid the horns take care of a majority but there is still a little to work out.

Now you are on a sub set-up. I personally have an ARC AUDIO 15D4 in my car that is plenty loud and just as clear as some mid series 10's or 12's. It needs a large box but sometimes that happens. But I would recommend running an Arc audio sub over a lot of others, because you get quality, a warranty, and great costumer service.

If you have any more ????'s just ask I'm more than willing to help.

Ok thanks for all the help. Im gonna look into everything ya threw at me. I personally havent competed in sound quality but i helped a friend wire his whole system and i know it's alot more work than for spl. It's just that i new back in the day what sounded good and what was barely coming out and haven't looked into car audio in a while...
