Proportioning Valve - Can i take off that valve thing?

I dont have the room for the stock porportioning valve in the rear for the brakes. I was told by a mechanic that a normal brake system uses a 70-30% pressure setup. Front gets 70% of the pressure and the rear gets 30%. And if I remove the valve, and replace it with a tee I will be making the system a 50-50% and the rear will lock up ALOT quicker being there isnt as much weight. He then told me I could counteract this by adjusting the rear shoes in so the brakes dont catch so soon. Can someone else back this up? I have seen a bunch of guys get rid of the damn thing and have no problems...thanks

if others have done it with no problem.....then i dont see it being a problem. you can also relocate it i do believe.

hmmmm, no change in braking performance? just want my truck to be safe, I plan on driving the ho everyday.

buy an aftermarket one. speedway has a nice selection

mine came without one from the factory...

i teed mine on my isuzu, no probs, except after it rains and the brakes get wet, and they lock up sometimes, but i dont have abs either brakes WAY better when its dry without abs but mines not a daily driver either...

lucky... this feller is workin with a newer taco... in 83 im surprised your truck has brakes lucky... I though you could just open the door and put your foot down lol
