im in the process of doing my Z right now, got it all welded up, finishing up my motor mounts(lowering the engine back down an inch). I didnt have to do anything with my trans tunnel, its 3.0 with an auto. i dont know if that has anything to do with it or not.

so you have to lower your down an inch. what did you run into with yours i have the same motor combo.

nah, i didnt have to lower it down. i just did so i would have more clearance for junk under the hood and so my engine cover/ inner fenders and junk will fit back in there. everythings been pretty simple on mine.

On mine I had to raise the tranny tunnel just in the shifter area mostly 1" and I had a 2.5L manual and did a 2" Z which is all that is needed. This will also clear the hood without a bodydrop and will clear an edge hood with a bodydrop.

It will not effect your steering.

after the relaxed show i'm tearing mine down to do the z.

I forgot to mention, you'll also probably have to notch the back of the cab much like an extended cab for driveshaft clearance
