I was wondering what most of you guys are using when building your link set ups. I plan on running bag over axle on my dually. I have some 1 1/2" x 1/8 wall tubing that i was gonna build my 3 link out of. I figure that tubing would be plenty strong enough as long as my bags are over the axle instead of on the bars. What do you guys think? Any insight would be helpfull thanks!

No way, you want 1/4 wall

I just know sometimes we all go a little overboard with the thickness of our materials to be safe. Im the same way but i know how hard it is to bend this tubing in my jd2 bender. Its strong shit. I remember max fish did an article on materials and how certain thickness metals are stronger than you think.

Yea. Better safe than sorry. I am running 2x3 1/4 square tubing. I like heavy duty lol

There is overkill and then there is OVERKILL... Thorbecke's have got everyone thinking that all four link tubing has to be .250 wall. They are building DIY kits for the general masses and they build it out of this material because of liability and failure purposes.

Check what material other manufacturers use, most use .095.

With it being bag over axle, 1.5" x .120" DOM would be more than enough. DO NOT use ERW tubing for this.

Thats exactly what i thought tuckinnuts. I remember before thorbeck was around nobody really used 1/4 wall tubing. I mean air ride technologys used thinner wall tubing and the link set ups you get from jegs and summit are all around 1/8 wall and those are for drag car setups! If your building a bag on bar setup it better be 1/4 wall. What is "erw"?

Drawn over mandrel or pretty much seamless tubing
