well id like to get a fab shop going myself and want stuff where i can use it in a shop and stuff i already got the welder it costed me 2 grand but well worth it but i dont want to spend 2 grand on a plasma cutter cuz i dont think it would be used like the welder and also what other tools would i need??im thinking a drill press maybe a band saw and im going to buy a tube bender

This is my opinion.

A welder is used to put a truck together, and hold it together throughout daily driving and abuse. I believe this is the #1 place to drop money for a shop. A plasma cutter simply takes things apart. I don't believe this is as crucial as holding something together, so I don't believe it needs to cost $2500 like my last welder did. However, after buying one, and finding out how much I use it, I am convinced I will upgrade to a Hypertherm or Thermal Dynamics sooner than later.

As far as other tools, I have a lot that I use on a very consistent basis. The drill press, chop saw, a good band saw, tube bender, and tube notcher I feel are invaluable tools That I use at a minimum once a week.

I just got a Grizzly band saw and it cuts much straighter and faster than the HF I had. Its not great, but ti works, and it was free. I am still looking for a DoAll saw though. Vertical and Horizontal.

I'm in Bowling Green.

Before you buy something look at the cost of consumables too. You might find a plas a little cheaper, but in the long runn the consumable s will get you. Like the miller welder, a m-25 replacement gun is over $200, but a tweco is a little cheaper and the consumables are cheaper too. Saving cosumables in a bucket and selling them to the scrap yard will help recover some of the cost.

Seth I come across stuff all the time especially now with hard times hitting smaller shops. What are you looking for, as far as a saw

And finally Nacho My brother in law works for Stoody/Thermal Dynamics. He gets a pretty go discount on some stuff, I will check and see what he can get.

I never had problems. Buy an EV-CUT100 and it worked very well. Greetings.

I have the Hypertherrm Powermax 800 I believe it is and I can't say enough good things about it. I use it on a pretty regular basis around the shop and wonder how I ever got by without it. Deffinitly worth the money IMO.
