Sectioning the crossmember and lowering the engine are not necessary. Just something I suggest. You can raise the transmission as well, and modify the floor if need be. You won't really run into hood clearance issues. I'm just concerned about operating angles.

Hey lowbenz, don't know how tight your money situation is, or your fabricating skills are, but I would suggest on getting a porterbuilt dropmember for your truck. No need to take out the engine, just pull out the crossmember and you can do it with the engine still in it!!!! Yeah sure it's $1400 but well worth it. If you got any questions about it you can IM me, just got done with mine!!!!!I will update pictures soon.

If your installing the drop member the engine still needs to come out. As far as the price compared to other IFS its a steal. But If I were You I'd just z it for now and check the clearance which should be fine between the motor and hood then If you decide that U wanna drop it then cut the crossmember. My last c-10 didn't have a sectioned crossmember with a Z.

Hey there (nasty nate)!!, I hate to prove you wrong but I just finished mine with the engine still in it, I just used an engine hoist and a floor jack for the tranny, yeah it was a bioootch to take the old one out but it came out. Allready got the R&p installed and now working on the control arms. P.S. check out the pics I have no room in the front of the truck!!!! sorry to jack the thread..........

No worries in your previous post you made it sound as if it was still bolted in. Yes with an engine hoist and the tranny jacked you can achieve this.

unfortunately funds are on the tight side, plus I live in New Zealand, so getting one freighted here would be a bitch!!!!! I think raising the gearbox like Keefs done seems the best way so far, well the easiest anyway! haha.
