Ok. Today my buddy took his truck in to get a VIN inspection.Long-story-short while there a CHP officer told him that his truck was "unsafe" do to his air ride suspension. Told him "the only way he would lift the "unsafe" vehicle off the DMV database was if he put the factory suspension back on the truck"

My friend seriously wants to either sell the truck or put the factory suspension back in temporarly.

There's gotta be something else he can do. He was never issue a citation just verbally told by the cop "your in the DMV database as an unsafe vehicle"

ANY HELP???

Last I checked busses and semis have air bags I think the chp is just blowing smoke up his ass. Unless the truck is really haggard.... every vehicle bagged / juiced vehicle I have owned has been gone over by the chp a number of times for various moving violations not once has my suspension been brought up. Why is it getting inspected?? Out of state vehicle?? Or a fix it ticket?? If its an out of state vehicle take it to the dmv for inspection. They just care about brake lights blinkers and seatbelts.. All else fails check with the dmv to see if the vehicle is set as unfit for public roads in there computer.. Get a bed cover lock it out and get it inspected again..

I just went thru this shit. California state law states that no part of the vehicle may go below the bottom of the rim. I remember reading some were that there was head light hight requirements but they didnt bother me about it. All you have to do Is put snubbers in so that the truck doesn't go below legal hight. If the cop gives you shit ask him if he is a implement of husbandry inspector. Those inspectors are the only ones qualified to make a inspected vehicle judgment call and can also over ride the officers ticket if you repair the truck.

this sounds so retarded.... but it works

go buy those rubber bumpstops that are like 5$ a piece and put 1 on each bottom a arm and 2 in the rear so that when you lay it out it stays like 3 or 4 inches off the ground and a locking switchbox is a must in california .. if you do this you can save lots of time and money.. all you have to do is unbolt 4 bolts and pull the bumpstops off when u get home and ull have them for next time because it usually happens a few times

got pulled over for that once, frontend was to high in the air... usually its just a good excuse to pull you over and see what your all about. I was clean and they let me go.

When I got my ticket in Pismo they just let me go with a fine but I hear the bumpstop method is the way to go if you have to go to show n tell

my buddy got the same ticket all u need to do is install some bump stops so that when your trucks air out u still can drive and turn!!!!! Thats basically there main concern is if your truck lays out while driving you have no control!.... at least thats what they think!!! lol they signed off his ticket and then we just cut the bump stops off!!!

so theres like nothing that pig could have done to really mess up my whole registration he said that he had it set up so the truck could only go back to him with factory suspension before hed let it back on the road

unhook the air lines at the bags, and put schrader valves in them. Air them up to a nice ride height hide the switch box and you are good to go. get home hook the airlines back up and bam.

go in there like you dont have an adjustable susepension. there cannot be a law that says you have to be riding on a steel coil or leaf spring. you just upgraded to non adjustable airride all the way around.
