I figured if anybody would know, Max would haha.

Don't think I've ever seen it discussed, it's good conversation! Personally, I think it's a truck. It's got a bed, it hauls shit haha

Cartruck

both are on car chassis and use the same suspension as the car they look like. both also have to comlply to truck crashworthyness regulations. They are not required to have side impact beams in the doors, however both do because the doors are the same as the car they look like. But in Texas either one has a license plate that says truck.

So it depends on what your asking about. If your at the parts store asking about a shock you will get the same one as a car. If your buying plywood at Home Depot you are driving a truck...

I have to agree with ???

It is like the duck billed platypus, except that they don't have poisonus spurs on their hind legs.

This conversation should include the Subaru Brat as well. An equally strage vehicle.

I'd hafta say car and heres why

1) they used the same frame as the production cars ie early rancheros used the fairlane, then the falcon, then the torino

the el camino used the malibu, chevelle, and monte carlo car production

2) said vehicles used the same parts as thier car production counterparts

so IMO they are a car with a bed grafted onto the front sheet metal
