FYI Dave......the mark viii and t-bird bolt circle is 5 on 4.25 not 4.5.....mine and my brothers had to be redrilled to 5x4.5.....not that it matters....but just so others are aware

I have gotten several complete cradles for less than $300. I believe they are 63" wide face to face of rotor. I had to narrow it for my ranger and s10 we built. The Mark VIII and v8 thunderbird have rear disc and the stronger 8.8" center section. the v-6 tbird has the small 7.5" chunk and either disc or drum depending on model and yr. MKviii has aluminum c/as and tbirds are steel.

the t-bird irs im going to use has the 8.8 and disks and the width is about 1 7/8" to narrow for the dakota im building so adapters will take up the room and change the pattern. it should be just right

Another thing to keep in mind is availibility and price of parts, (ex. brake rotors, callipers, pads, and balljoints, etc. etc.) the ford thunder bird i.r.s is very easy to find parts for and they arent expensive when you do need them.

hmm so when you guys shortened the mark VIII irs you simply kept the inboard mounting points the same and just took what you needed off of the control arms?  doing this you limit lift  obviously... im measuring up to put one under my ranger and its looking like ill have to take  about 3" off the control arms to get it to fit under.. any insight is appreciated!   Trevor
