I am looking for a reliable, fair priced and easy to find I.R.S for my truck. What are your guys suggestions?

t-bird/mark viii irs is what i am using.....easy to use and narrow...its setup similar to a IFS in that its a long arm/short arm setup.....the single swing arms like those on a rx-7 or 300z create toe in along with the obvious camber when they articulate.....the t-bird/mark viii dosent toe in or out....just camber.....i went with the mark viii since its aluminum and therfore lighter than my brothers t-bird on his ranger

Right on, that sounds good, glad to hear they are narrow as well since it will be going on a Dakota. If you dont mind me asking, how much am i looking to spend on parts for the entire rear-end? (ball-park)

i was able to pick my complete irscradle, arms, cv's all of it for $99 from a local u pull and pay in orlando...dont know where your at or if there is one close....but there site is upullandpay.com

oh and stock i think they are around 60" but can be narrowed relatilvley easy....if you keep the stock mounting points just simply shorten the arms and cv axles

For my application I widened my MARK VIII IRS. I did it by widening the middle part of cradle between the control arms. I got new axles made for it. I wanted to put a T-bird rearend in my Blazer but didn't like the way it was looking as far as axle issues.

Do you have any progress pics of the irs other than the ones with it in jig??

what kinda pics do you want.....i did not use the factory cradle...all i used from the factory setup was the center chunk and spindles....the rest went to the dump...all though i wish i would have held onto the brake calipers since i can use them to upgrade to cobra brakes....all i really have is the pics on the frame rack and a couple when i picked it up in the back of mu dads truck

so you had to widen the mark VIII irs to make it work on a blazer?

i used the mark viii as well, i chose it over the t-bird because of the disk brakes, and i chose it over other IRS setups because of the simple a-arm design and also it hinged from the center, a lot of IRS's hinge towards the front, which moves the wheels towards the cab thru travel.

i paid $300 at the u-pull-it and threw everything out but the center section, hubs, and brakes. i narrowed it 6" to fit under an S10 and it gets 10" of travel, due to the CVs maxing out. i also drilled it out for a 5 on 4.75" bolt pattern, which is the largest those hubs will take. stock is 5 on 4.5".
