how hard is it?

if it were me and my main goal was to learn. I would get a good book or video and a cheat block of craigslist. Then tear down the block and rebuild it and install that first, then replace it down the road. Better to spend the small bit of money learning then to buy the somewhat expensive parts and ruin them.
