I have used a couple of the engine stands

They worked fine, just check the weight you need before buying the stand.

i built whats called a gantry lift in my garage.uses a chain hoist or an electric winch.i love it.biggest thing ive picked up with it is a 4 runner body about 3 ft in the air.it doesnt take up any room at all hardly and i leave it in one spot.

I bought the engine stand from Harbor Frieght.. Works fine.. Rebuild three motors off of it and haven't had any Problems. Far as a Hoist, I got lucky and found one for $75 from a crackhead.. Its a very expensive one and works great. Maybe you can get that lucky.. LOL

Hey man do you have any pics of how you built your Gantry Crane? I wanted to build one that could telescope to fit in my garage.

i dont have any pics but i built it in my garage.it is probably too tall to remove without cutting it apart.i wanted it nice and high up so i could pick stuff up high enuf to back a truck or trailer under the load.it is also as wide as my garage would allow so i could still park stuff in there and its still pretty well outta the way.i wish i would have made it bolt together so i could use it other places to.this is by far one of the most useful tools ive ever owned.cost to build including the hoist was about 125.
