Every one forgets to include the 7mgte. Toyota straight 6's. They come in turbo and non turbo. gte is turbo. This engine will even bolt to 22r trannies. They are way cheaper than jz's.

If you want to stick with the 22R (RE?), I would upgrade the cam and valves, timing chain, carb and header. All the power is in the top end of these motors. LC Engineering makes a great rocker system as well for these motors. Oversized stainless valves paired with a torquey cam would probably do you fine.

exactly what i needed to hear.

kyle some of the older yotas had a 22re with a turbo they bolt right on to the motor and require a couple of holes drilled and taped but i know you can handle that. i had one but sold it like everything else haha. but my budy jamie that i got it from had it in an ext cab long bed with alot of aded metal in the rear and it moved it realy good. the motor in my truck was good but took a litle to get goin compared to the standard cab i had. id keep the 22r and do like seth said and beef it up id probably keep it fuel injected thow. another cheep trick i did on my yota was replacing one of the relays i think it was an efi or somethin to do with fuel with one for a t1000 . they didnt have mine in stock so i tried it and it made a noticable diference. id have to look at the fuse panel to know which one it was its been a long time

yo how you doin guys here in australia the crew cabs just run a standard 22r .. there may be slight differences in weight tho as i noticed yours is larger then a aussie toyota crew cab and you are probably running a longer bed than we would

in saying that the engine would handle it fine .. just might be 2 slow for you

I have some bolt in motor mounts for the yota to pair it with a SBC or 4.3
