Hey ive been lurking around here for a long time, but this is my first post..
anyways

I have this 92 mitsubishi mighty max, and i have a question.
Its staying static dropped, but im looking for anohter inch or two in the rear. Theres a problem though, I have this crossmember right above the pumpkin, that wont allow me to go any lower or else ill be bottoming out on it every bump. Ive been thinking of how i can notch it, but i am stumped. This is not my truck, but this is what i am talking about.. Its the gas tank crossmember right above the pumpkin..

As you can see, once its so close, it will hit. Mines about an inch away from it at the moment, so i cant go any lower, and i dont know hwo to fix that. Im not wnating smaller wheels, I already have 40 series on 18s.

thanks alot

You can notch the crossmember, or you can make a new one that clears the pumpkin.

get some angled blocks, that will point the pumpkin down a little and give some more clearance

you could get some similar diameter tubing puts some angle cuts in the along with some angle cuts on the crossmember and notch it similar to a frame notch

or

you could get someone to bend up some tubing and weld that in its probably clearer in my head then what i just wrote down but hopefully it will give you an idea...

Cut it out and move it behind the diferential. But hes right about the tunnel rubbin.

i believe that its the gas tank mount and its welded on the inside and outside of the frame.

On all the toys that i've built i've always just cut it off right after the gas tank and left it. i've never had any problems with it like that.

yea ive heard of people doin that, but i just dont feel safe even though everyone says theyve never had problems. If the crossmember isnt right against the bed floor, im going to build a notch for it. Does this look ok? I wasnt sure if i need to gusset it, i cant put gussets on the bottom because i need as much open space as possible.

oh, and the picutre up there isnt my truck, my trucks driveshaft isnt that close because the front is low too. And its going to be lower when i do the back.
