So here it is. I know pretty much everyone looking at this has done one. I have a 2003 Tahoe and it got smaked up pretty bad. Im swapping out the frame so i took it all down and have everything disconected its pretty much ready to come off the frame. Problem is i dont have a 4 post lift. AND im on a driveway so things love to roll down. Does anyone know where to get a body hoist or somthing to use that would work for me? This is the first body swap i have done without a lift, dont want it falling! Got any ideas? hopes and dreams? lol jk thnx guys

5 friends + 2 12 packs = 1 frame swap

1.cut the old frame apart, make something out of it to help you then scrap it. 2.jack it way up set the body on wood or cinderblocks and slide the frame out from under it. then slide the new one under it. I dont know if you also have all the suspension parts on the new frame but you might have to tear it down so its not as wide as the cab so it can be slid underneath it then jacked up into place.

IF the engine is still mounted, start by removing it! that will give you a ton more clearance when you lift the body. Get some large jack stands from Harbor Freight or somewhere and with the body unbolted and all parts disconnected jack each corner higher and higher till you can just about clear the frame. you may have to sit the stick frame on its brake rotors to get it as low as possible, you can also rest the frame and or brakes on wheel dollys so that its easier to roll out once free. Its doable andcan be done safe if you take your time!!!

I used a Cherry picker and some straps to lift my Rodeo cab up once. Then i put some 4' tall saw horses under the cab with the legs far enough apart to not block the wheels, and I rolled the frame out from underneith. Had the engine still on the frame and everything.

Also 5 friends and 2x 12 packs works great too.
