Do you have any recommendations as far as building my own tie rods as far as heims to use?...I know that the use of LH and RH threads are important in their construction but I'm not sure of the correct configuration to put them...any tips or pointers in regards to companies to order from from would be great...thanks.

I'm not sure what you are asking. What "configuration" are you concerned about?

I use HM-Engineering.com for all of my spherical parts.

It looks like his site is down right now. His number is (714) 979-6631

basically im building my own tie rods using heim joints instead of ball joints...i look at all of the different heims and im not sure how serious of a heim i should need i.e. should i get chromoly (sp?) etc?...and with the LH and RH thread comment, it was in relation to making the tie rod itself as to whether or not it would matter if i used all RH or LH threads or should i use a combination of both to compensate for any twisting that may occur in the tie rod during travel?...I've never done this before so any advice in making them would be helpful..

In most cases, you can use high quality 1/2" heims for tierod ends. The commonly used heims are called JMX or RSM (extra heavy duty). The problem with the 1/2" parts is that nobody that I know of makes misalignments for them. The smallest misalignments that I have seen are for 5/8" heims and in that case there isn't any reason to use the RSM series parts.

I would suggest using a RH on one end and a LH on the other, that way you don't need to remove the tierod in order to adjust the toe.

Max, are you talking about the high mis-alignment spacers that fit inside the bearing or cone spacers? If this is something that would be needed I might be interested in designing and turning some.

Chris, I'm going to be needing some made pretty soon.

Let me know, I'm always more than happy to work on one off stuff.

Ballistic makes a high misalignment from 1/2" to 3/8". I ordered some to do the tie rods on my new spindles.

Good to know!
