what county was it in ? when you get it on paper from your ins. company and the DMV go to the DA and plead your case monday if it all up & up they should drop the court date and then refund the tow bill from the state,it will take you a long time too get the check from railgh.

bythe way you have to have premission from the state to fill suit aginst the state..

that cop my have been wrong on this BUT remember for the most part they are good dude's just doing there job.

It was done in Stanly County. I already have the papers from the insurance company. They were actually emailed to me while I was still pulled over!

I am definately looking into filing suit....There is absolutely no reason I should be going through this. Now my family (including 3 children) are stuck at the house instead of going out as a family on my only fkn day off this week.

sounds like they are doing anything they can to make every single dollar they can in todays economy, NC isnt the only place that kinda thing is happening

Wow! I cant believe how many ignorant people posted on the same thread. I havent really posted on here in a long time, but I have to on this one.. I understand that almost everyone on this site and in this community hate the cops! Now for one second, think about why you hate them????? hmmm. more than likely its because YOU got caught BREAKING THE LAW, therefore, the cops had to do their job.

Im proud to say that im a deputy sheriff and a mini-trucker here in NC, and I want to stick up for that officer. When a plate is ran through the computer system it will say, in craig's case, ***NO INSURANCE, PICK-UP PLATE***. Now everybody read along with me, ***NO INSURANCE, PICK-UP PLATE***. It did not say, ***AT THE OFFICERS DESCRETION, PICK-UP PLATE, NO INSURANCE***. As an officer you have to do your job, it puts the food on the table. And its not like we are in it because of the money. I make a whopping 32,000 a year. Im not trying to be an ass but come on... The city will not pay for your tow bill or the days off of work. The best thing you can do is take a confirmation of insurance to the DA and have them drop the charge, which they will. Its not a smart move for an officer to let an individual go without insurance. The civil responibility is outrageous especiallly if you are involved in a wreck after I let you go. I dont know who Im talking to on the PHONE. I need proof that you do indeed have insurance before I can let you go. So come on give the cops a break for once. We are not all bad, Im a cop, I love to drag, I love to go fast. But there is a point when you have to do your job. Dont hate on us for putting food on the table for our families. Not every cop is into mini-trucking, there not picking on you!

That's the whole point...I TRIED to show this cop that my insurance company had ALREADY emailed me the information i needed showing that there had been NO lapse at any time with my coverage.....email that I can easily access on my pda. He could care less...

So.....in that case where the information is READILY available to you, and you still turn it down....THEN WHAT?

I refuse to be penalized for someone else's fuckup and I will fight it as far as I have to!

I understand! FIGHT IT! but dont down the officer for doing what hes paid to do. The people that you need to be complaining about is the DMV. Ive seen it alot here lately where this is a continuing problem.. just wait till this inspection fiasco is fully in effect. NO INSPECTION=REVOKED TAGS. GAY! let me tell you. But seriously. Everybody hates on the cops because they dont know what we go through.. Put your self in a cops shoe for once.. I stopped a guy the other day. Asked him for his license and registration card. I ran his license, and it came back good. My sgt showed up and knew the individual by a different name, so I put the braclets on him. come to find out, this guys had 4 different licenses on him with different names. SO MY POINT IS.. we are not always sure of what we are looking at is legit. To cover our ass we have a court system that smooths out the bumps, the court will decide if its legit or not or if you have insurance. is better to take your tag and go about it that way, then to let you go and hope that the documents you showed were legit. Now there is exceptions to that, however im not going to get into them. there is ways to get out of it, if you have the correct paperwork IN HAND, not on the pda. im sorry you had to gothrought this, and i really do have your back, from one minitrucker to another, but seriously there is more to our job then everybody thinks. HATE THE DMV! I DO!

I'm not hating on you in any way, and I appreciate the support, but if you're not doing anything wrong, and you're not expecting to get pulled over, then why would you have the paperwork? That's like taking a tourniquet with you because you think you are going to get your leg cut off that night....

The system is shitty and they've got you by the balls no matter what way you turn.

Craig sorry bro.

I would hit up the da or ada like Shannon mentioned, and see what you can get done far as reimbursement. I have had this happen to me in a work truck of ours and I called the insurance comp, and I then called my local DMV. And in less than 5mins I was on my way with "Sorry for the delay, but I'm glad your all squared away now" That my friend gets my respect for the Patrol man!

And far as me being "Ignorant" since i'm posting on your thread......To the Ima Sheriff dep guy...Wow really? did you honestly just say that...If you are a dep, last thing you need to do is call anyone that pays your paycheck IGNORANT...Give respect to earn respect

and your right, thats why I said there is an exception.. Ive only seen somebody carry that paperwork twice since ive been working. Its rare, but some people keep everybit of insurance information in there glove box, incase of situations like that. The DMV blows and it sucks because we get the heat for there screw ups. good luck to you bro, if you need anything holler at me.

Sorry red dog, but you dont pay my paycheck! Im paid by the county I work in not the state. There is a BLET class starting in january maybe you should take it so you wouldnt sound so IGNORANT when you talk about the cops. And also red dog, I did not call you ignorant to begin with. But I am Now!

"you probably got pulled over for breaking the law" that shit can be thrown out the window. i was pulled over for driving a lowered truck in a city where lifted trucks are owned by everyone.........including brett favre. sadly i get stopped on my way to work, losing me 6.55 that hour which i guess is the only time i was glad i worked for slave money. i was in the process of putting on my seatbelt and i get rolled for not wearing one.

i had the belt on when he pulled me over, when he got behind me, when i passed him, when i was sitting on the side of the road and him talking to me. he just felt like pulling over someone different than everyone else. fuck cops. he searches my ride (with my consent as i really didnt want to lose 13.10 or more that day waiting on him to get the warrant and shit.....thats big money) and finds a coke bottle which he then opens, smells, and pours out. wasted my fucking soda for lunch. i do NOT get a ticket, i do NOT get a warning, i get a cop that walks back to his car and LEAVES ME STANDING AT THE BACK OF MY FUCKING TRUCK. no "you can go sir, be safe" or anything like that. he gets in his car and LEAVES. wtf am i supposed to think dick.
