The biggest tip i can give is to go out and buy some aluminum RV jacks. they are like floor Jacks only they have a screw so you can infinatley adjust the height of each one. I wouldnt use them to hold an entire vehicle like regular jackstands but once you get the rest of the truck level it makes leveling out and squaring up the new back half super easey when welding it to the rest of your frame.

Here is a link to what I have

I bought all of mine used at a swap meet. everytime I find someone selling them i try to pick them up. They are awesome to have around the shop. If you want you know how to get ahold of me and you can check out how I did mine.

^^ I do it similar to you except I use the scissor jacks from 80's Chrysler K platform cars. They are a 3/4 hex drive so you can use a wrench or air ratchet to drive them. You can also tack them to whatever you are trying to level since they are steel. Its not necessary to do so but it helps them stay in position when you are moving things around lining stuff up. I just grab them from the wreckers when I go, they are very handy to have around the shop.
