well im going to be bagging and bd'ing my 07 classic dually. my question is for anyone who has bd'd a duramax what did you do for hood clearence? it will take about a 5 inch bd to lay the rockers out. but im not 100% sure if my hood has that much clearence. i want to keep my stock hood. maybe put an eclipse bubble in it or something but i dont want a huge hole or a cowl hood. im thinking of a 2 inch body mount drop and then 3 inch traditional. as i dont have the time for a stockfloor or the room that it would take up in my shop. i know no a whole lot of these trucks have been done. but i do know a couple have been and there has to be someone out there that had a hand in it. hope someone can help me out.

something i saw on tv the other day. make a big blob of playdoh on top of the areas you are worried will hit. make it taller than the hood line. then slowly close the hood. then open it again, and measure how squashed the stuff is. if you have more than 5, you're good. if not, modify the stuff thats too high or cut the hood bracing around that stuff.

i think i saw it on trucks u on speed, but i dunno. i forget. good tip though. they did it to find out if a motor swap would need a cowl hood before they put it in. i bet on a duramax there are things you can do to make the intake setup or stuff on top sit lower.

im trying to get started. i have to get the mazda back together so i can roll it into the corner and get room for the massive dually. im also waiting on re8's, valves, my semi bags and an avs spike controler. mine wont be as crazy as ducks former dually. ill only be on 22's......

Y would you traditional it?? SF it with some 3"x4"x1/4" lower the cab mounts and channel the floor a little if need be in the spots where the floor board goes down the lowest its only like four spots and the top of the trans tunnel needs raised up by the firewall. Its a 100 times easier to do it that way then to trad it!

Talk to the guys at Ekstensive Metalworks. I know they did a Duramax Dually for the SEMA show this year. They might be able to help you.
