the search function isnt working for me... sooooooo. i bought a set of led tail lights form avs...just the solid one color ones ( i made a post in their section on here but they have topics 7 days old that havnt been answered yet) and im trying to hook up all the wiring to them right now. i was told by a friend of mine that in order to get the blinkers to work properly in that i was going ot have to add something to the wire ...? any knowledge available on this? thanks guys

What kind of vehicle? The blinker may work with out anything else but just blink fast. If you had separate bulbs for turnsignal and running/brake then you will need to add a module. If you can't figure it out I don't mind giving you a hand. I'm in baton rouge.

FBI sells the modules but i think their $70 a pair. thats pretty steep. i went from a 3 wire setup on my astro to a 2 wire led but i used a wire conversion kit that had a diode inline to have parking lights and get brighter for the brakes. i used 9 in third brake lights so this converted them to a standard brake light function. the blinkers only work manually and u cant be pressing the brake pedal if u want the rear to blink. the front blinks manually unaffected by the brake pedal. im used to this because i didnt want to shell out $70 for blinkers. anyone knows where u can get the modules cheaper let me know.

just a thought won't help with the speed of the blinking, but what about buying one of those trailer plug conversion boxes, they go from a 3 light to a 2 light, like whn you put a trailer plug on a mazda or nissan for example. I know you can put a resistor inline of the led blinker but unsure of the size

check out http://www.avsontheweb.com/home.php?cat=113 each product deals with a different application. could always call avs and see what they say. My AVS LEDs work fine with my turn signal it just blinks really fast, it's a factory mechanism to let you know that one of your bulbs is burnt out and since it doesn't recognize LEDs it thinks you have a bad bulb, on fords anyway...

right... well thats whats its doing... blinking fast letting me know the bulb is out. its a 94 toyota p/u. it has three seperate bulbs that im basically converting to one bulb. i figured id get rid of reverse, no problem but i still need running lights, brake lights and blinkers.

im also about to try and figure out how to get the blinkers to work on my mazda that has led's.

You need to add a resistor into the wiring, you should be able to get them from an auto parts store for relativley cheap, you should get 2 resistors in a pack just follow the wiring diagram. Because you have removed your stock bulbs and put in lights with way less resistance the flashers operates quicker, adding a resistor to each side will slow down the flasher again. There is one wire into and one wire out off the resistor, solder and shrink tube one wire to the 12v+ wire to the LED. Solder and shrink tube the other wire out off the resistor to the ground wire and you should be good. I know toyotas are fussy with needing the correct resistance in the lights, I have not done this in a yota, but I do it on trucks all the time.

avs also sells a speed control module. its pretty cheap, i ordered one but havent hooked it up yet im still in the process off finishing my taillights

All I had to do on my silverado was put in a heavy duty flasher and it solved the problem of the fast blinking turn signals. I have Hi-tech leds, but im sure they're all pretty much the same.

You can get flashers specifically designed for LED lights. Grote makes them. Part # is 44890. Any parts store should have them. http://grote.com/product.php?product_number=44890&x=3&y=10tore
