i usualy use a 3" cut off tool with one of those "rocks" or really thick cut off wheel on it... and in super tight corners i use a die grinder with a grinding burr.

i agree with those routes. the 1/4" thick grinding discs for the 3"s work great. allows you to take just the weld down. burrs work good in corners too.

We built a hydraulic pump rack once and we used this neat belt grinder that used a 3/8" wide sanding belt that rolled over a wheel. It was perfect for grinding inside a 90 degree corner. Unfortunatly it wasnt mine and I dont know where it came from or who makes it.

3DAY, what you used was called a Bandfile.  They are sold in either electric or air powered.  The air are really only good if you have a serious shop duty compressor.  Those things are expensive, but worth it for the good ones.    http://www.bosstoolsupply.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7711

It looked similar to that but the end had a big wheel on it that the belt went around on. But it could have been a different brand tho, thanks for the link.
