both older versions and newer versions have each there own perks. I like 7 since my laptop with a max 1.2 gigs of ram is able to run it fairly smoothly with some programs open. I like CS3 for the simple fact that newer versions catour to the "newer" advances in technology for example photography, including HDR processing, and photo batching in that 7 doesn't auto rotate your images since it doesn't read the digital information that the "newer" DSLR's instill into the photos coding. and CS3 on the other hand will read that info from the photo and tells cs3 to auto rotate the photos accordingly. Just my experiences with the 2.
