This is for a guy I work with who isnt happy with his bag job. He knows the welds arent great and he is working on fixing them and buying new tabs, rewelding them, etc. I told him Id ask you here about this as he wont. Found out today that he still doesnt have the thing aligned yet, which might end some of this but not all. He has some RE double convuluted (2800s??) in the rear behind the axle, which I know you told me was a big no-no for ride and that he should instead do sleeves. Im trying to tell him this and cant explain it, so Ill post pics and ask for your explanation. The setup is a rear custom SD wishbone, SD lower bars, the REs front and rear, some Nitrodrop2 shocks in the rear and Belltechs up front.    He says that the front end feels washy and shakes a lot over bumps, the back is too stiff (and bounced me around riding it in), and he wants it to handle more like the lowered Acura he has or the Accord on airstruts. He is riding at about 80 psi and I know for me that was a tad high in my S-10 Blazer, but this thing is bigger and heavier.    The trunk is the 2008 Tundra in the SEMA coverage in the new Sport Trucks, page 98, 2-tone gray on 24s. He was in the Century bedcovers booth and got sponsored from ViAir, Century, PPG, Kinetik, Chassis ????? grills, Tint Works, and Monster energy drinks. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111.jpghttp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111a.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111b.jpghttp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111b.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091112.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091112a.jpghttp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091112a.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091113.jpg  hope the pics work http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111.jpghttp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111a.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091111b.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091112.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091112a.jpghttp" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091112a.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/forklift385/0130091113.jpg

Wow, those bag mounts and upper link tabs look like they are hardly attached. Bag on axle, I would go to sleeve bags, but it will need new upp bag mounts at the least as they are different height.    Front, looks like the bag is pretty far out from the frame. Bringing it in a bit would probably soften that up a bit and require less PSI to lift it to a decent height.

Edited: 1/31/2009 1:25:58 AM by blazins10first :off u should know the whole story before u bash the guy that did itsecond :it took years for the owner of this truck to get his canned accord to ride the way he wanted, and his acura is lowered on the old accord lowering springs and blown stock strutsthird: all this happan cause the bolt in parts that was orderd didnt quite bolt in at ALL!and yes i know the owner and the person who bagged it and both i consider good friendsKnowing the person or knowing a story doesnt really cover the work or question. The 4 link tabs are barely on. The front looks like fluxcore that was done on dirty metal. BUT the guy is asking how to improve some handling or ride. So that would be the key to the question. Not knowing who did it and how good a friend they are.

Gut the thing and start fresh!  Go with a sleeve style bag in the rear unless he is going to tow with it.  I don't think sleeve bags will carry the weight of a trailer but feel free to correct me if I am wrong.  Like Seth mentioned, it looks like those bags can move in torwards the frame quite abit.  If it was indeed a bolt on kit and it didn't bolt on he should have sent it back and got his money back.  There is no excuse for work like what is pictured above.

All the work is crap on this truck ! The front bag brackets look like a little kid welded them on. The link tabs are flat on a flat spot on the alxe the new tundras are flat and square til the last couple inches where they tube rounds out and part of the tab hangs off and is not welded.  The truck rides like shit, and takes way too much PSI to drive. The trucks check engine light came on today because the charcoal canaster was moved. The paint has more razor marks then a hollywood mirror. And the guy that built this shit sandwich got every single sponsor for the owner and towed the truck to sema and back. WHAT A DICK !!!!Hi my name is Ron and I am the above dick to blame for it all. please feel free to post or IM or e mail me anything I forgot. Thank you. P.S. Chris he did want to tow with it and not cut into the bed

If all you want to do is improve your ride I would suggest larger bags in the front, tucked in closer to the chassis if there is room(it looks like there is in the pic) As far as the rear end goes you could go with a set of sleeve bags if you want to stay 1:1 with the axle or you could place a double convoluted bag on your link bar (properly gusseted of course) to soften the ride in the rear. I don't know if you have shocks or not but if you don't get some in there. A good set of shocks (Bilstien)  will make a dramatic improvement in your ride as well.   Issues of pride aside you should seriuosly consider putting in some time to "safen up" some things underneath the truck, probably won't be too hard to do if your already in there reworking some things to improve the ride anyways. Hope this helps you out, good luck.

Thanks maz duh.  We are going to be changing it up, I think it is hard to see what is holding it together from these photos.  It has bell tech shocks and slam bags RE7s in the front and nitro 2s with RE8s in the back.  Can sleeve bags support the weight of a load and trailer?    Thanks for being concerned about its safety instead of  just being a prick and saying the it looks like shit.  Any thoughts on adjustable shocks?  By putting the bags on the bars it should lift with less pressure right, making the ride softer.

Thanks for taking the time to give me advise.  I do appreciate it.  The safety is not the issue. I am just asking about ride quality.  If I wanted to ask how to make it safe I would have.  As in my previous statements "this is not finished".

bags on bars will make it ride softer yes, but when a bag is on a bar its weight capacity goes down. and so does the whole towing idea... it all depends on what you are towing really.
