for the lower bag mount in the front i had to cut a huge hole in the lca is 1/8" plate enough for the bag to sit on? i seen the plates they sell are 3/16 but that seems kinda thick.

why does it seem kinda thick?  Will it hurt to use something you know wont break?  I would prolly use 1/4" honestly but i tend to overdue..

I would use 3/16 or 1/4  depending on the application.  I wouldn't think of using 1/8 unless it was a go cart.  <--i mean that last part lol

yea 1/8 is not anuuf to take the weight of your truck..

ok ill get 3/16 ive just seen on here i think max says 1/8 is plenty and the stock arms are made of 1/8. what about tubeing thickness? i need to get some round tube also to triangulate my lca's how thick should that be?

It really depends on the size of the plate, and how you are building the piece. I generally use no thicker than 1/8" for anything. Same for round tube.

yea it depends on the design and how you are using it.

The difference between the stock arms being .125" and .125" flat plate is that stock arms are stamped with lots of shape to make them stronger.  .125" is more than strong enough to hold the weight of your truck, look at any factory stamped arms.  The coil spring sits in the lower and holds the truck up just fine.  Its all in the design!

I din't answer yesterday because I wasn't sure what type of vehicle this was going on and I didn't have time to write out a long response...In almost all cases 1/8" plate is enough. The bag plates are large enough to spread the forces around to use 1/8" but there are some applications where 3/16" or even 1/4" would be better. In those cases, like Seth mentioned, I would still use 1/8" and just gusset accordingly.

I even use 1/8 on the rear setup on most occasions, but make sure to gusset properly and have no problems at all.
