ok so if you go the kandy route you still have to tape off the lens foe the base and then untape and spray the kandy and clears?

OK IM GOING TO TELL YOU A WAY TO DO IT AND THEN YOU GUY WILL PROBABLY SAY THAT WONT WORK BUT IT WILL AND DOES .IVE DONE ALOT OF THEM THIS WAY. MASK THEM OFF WHEN YOU PAINT YOUR TRUCK.AFTER ITS PAINTED UNMASK THEM THEN DO THIS. TAKE YOUR PAINT AND REDUCE IT ALOT REDUCE IT DOWN TILL THE PAINT JUST RUNS RIGHT OFF THE PAINT STICK.THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY PAINT ON THE STICK.ITS LIKE A 20% PAINT TO 80% REDUCER. THEN PAINT YOUR LIGHTS TELL YOU CANT SEE THEM. THEN CLEAR THE TRUCK LIKE NORMAL.IF YOU DONT BELIVE ME TEST IT OUT FIRST. BUT YOU DONT NEED TO BUY ANY KANDY OR ANYTHING. THE KEY IS TO MAKE SURE THE PAINT IS REALLY REDUCED SO ITS LIKE IT IS TRANSPARENT.

Greg is right, I have done them like this also, but instead of reducer I used a clear base to mix the color and make it transparent. Just make sure you put enough clear on the truck to be able block it down smooth and not burn through.
