what the above post says and remove your belt driven fan and replace it with a electric one. Or better yet I have an extra 4.0L v6 sitting on an engine stand I will let go cheap! No tranny or wiring harness though, but I do have the MAF and ECU for it. It may even bold up to your 5spd tranny if your truck has the right one in it.

i had a 96 ranger and we ditched the 3.0 and dropped a 351W in it. it moved really good then...lol .. really not that hard to do either but really tight on space.

ok not wantin to do the v8 lol but i was thinkin rear end swap but i was wondering what a good set of 327's ..wait i think that is the gear ratio im thinkin about lol

3.55 gear ratio is a good all around gear, 4.10 would be good for your stop light take offs but you would lose top end speed.

well do they have that ratio for my rear end ??

yeah you can get a 355 gear for the 7.5 and the 8.8in rear ends. should be no problem finding one.

My 02 has the 3.0 in it and I did the rear end swap.. I went from the 7.5 3.08's to the 8.8 disc brakes with 3.73's out of a 99 ford Explorer.. And all the add on's everyone was talking about like the electric fan, cold air intake and exhuast will definitly open up the ranger.. I had a 96 ranger with the 2.3 4 banger in it and it had a cold air intake and exhuast.. It was alittle quick but not anything to brag about.. lol..

Untitled You have the 2.3L motor, isn't it fairly popular for guys with these motors to turbo them?  Since it is the same motor that came turbo'd on the turbo coupe for a while I believe
