The gear in your rearend is probably a 4.10 anyways. They put a bigger gear in the 4 cylinder trucks to ake them get up and go and seem like they had some power. Espically with the five speeds this is the combo they made. Is the clutch slipping at all? it could seem like it has little power if your just spinning the clutch around.  Theres gonna be a lot of work involved to doing a motor swap, no matter V8 or turbo 2.3. I've been down those rodas. Trust me, time consuming and hurts your pocket book, to do it right.  It's a 2.3, it's not gonna fly. But you shoul dbe able to get some better performance by doing an intake and tune up. I wouldn't spend the money to put a programmer on it.

everything is fine its just when i put the 20's on it seems a lil more sluggish i mean to go up a huge bride i can still maintain 65 but i have to drop it to fourth i guess what i want to know is there somethign like exhaust and intake that would put just a lil bit more pep.just to make it feel like its not weak

You can't turbo that 2.3.  Not the same as the turbo coupe.  This 2.3 = piss ant.

actually the 96 up dual plug 2.3 is the EASIEST to turbo, as you just swap the pistons, add the good headgasket, turbo manifold, turbo, bigger injectors and a tune and roll.
