watts link setup?

whats a couple of good ways to setup a watts link?  i will be using a parallel 4-link.

this seems like an extremely vauge question....   What parts or info are you stuck on?   taylor

It is a vague question. What exactly are you asking? How to properly set up a watts link or how many different ways can you set one up?

more specifically i just want to know how to set it up properly? sorry

you want the upper and lower bars parellel to the ground at ride height , if you look at my duallys profile i have some pics up

There is a little more to it than that, the bars should be parallel at half-travel not ride height. The orientation of the bell crank is also important. I can't seem to post pics anymore, otherwise I would love to post a disgram that I drew up. I'm almost positive that they have already been posted before though. Do a search and see if anything come up.

Sweet! I talked to Johnny-O about making them into an animated sequence for me too.

 

If you pay attention to them, you see that only at 1/4 and 3/4 travel the bell crank is straight up and down and only at half travel are the bars parallel. Now if you have a system that doesn't follow this diagram but it still works that's fine, this is just your basic starting point.

Max, I don't recall this being asked before so thought I would to get the info out there.... Is there some way to determine what length bell crank and bars to use in relation to each other, or do you just kind of arbitrarily pick dimensions and make a model of it to see if it will cycle properly?

The narrower the frame is the shorter the links will be, but the bell crank should be longer to compensate for the short bars. The more travel you have the longer the bellcrank and the arms should be, but then the longer the arms are the shorter the bell crank can be.
