the only problem with asking "Whats the best to buy" is that its the same as asking "Whos the hottest girl"...Everyone has their own opinion. I have used the finishline guns, and dont find them that great to work with. Granted, I can use them and create a nice finish, I much rather prefer my Sata, or Iwata. I recently have started to enjoy clearing with a LPH-400, where as a year ago, you couldnt convince me to use anything buy my 1.3RP Sata NR3000.Your best bet is to go to a local bodyshop supply store, and see if they will let you test spray a gun, either in their shop, or if they know you good enough, at your shop. I test sprayed my Iwata for a month before I decided to buy one.  With your budget Im sure you will find something that works great for all your applications, personally in that price range I would go with a Devibliss GTI. I dont truly love that gun, but it is a very versitile piece of equipment, and fits well into any budget. -Brad

i agree with slammedcivic its all in teh user. i have seen awesome paintjobs done with a harbor freight gun and horibble stuff with a devilbis. if you can test them thats great. also consider what you will spray with them ( base clear or flakes candies etc etc) and go from there

i did my bike with a harbor freight gun and it turned out decent, but it was a small area to paint. when i did my wheels i couldnt get the spray pattern right, so i guess its worn out. ill just use it for primer. i suggested the devilbiss cause i havent talked to anyone who used anything else so i dont know anything about them thanks, ill hit up the paint man

i have a develbiss GTI too. i have only sprayed VERY little paint with it, but i have no issues yet? if that helps? haha. when i got mine it came with a .3 .4 and .5 tip so you should be able to use it for whatever you want. the painters i knew at the time said it was a great gun to get if i was a beginner. before i know all the tricks where buying a SATA would be useful. i guess they meant buy a develbiss to make enough money to buy the SATA? haha

problem wtih the 250 range is its still a budget line gun...   top guns that are a great invenstment run over 400.  the 100 to 250 range will get u the intermediate range guns. so u might as well save.  but dont get me wrong, i own about 10 hf guns. and use them all the time. ud laugh the truck i shot with an hf, candy and clear.  my main choice is an iwata lph400, but its a preference.

Dont mean to steal the thread but how bad would a paint job look if the base and clear were sprayed through a 1.5 nozzle?

you will move more material. so it will be easier to make it run.
