---------------------------------------------Originally posted by DOWNHERE---------------------------------------------Originally posted by dumptkotaI WISH MY SUBUBAN WAS IN AS NICE OF SHAPE AS YOURS. IT CAME FROM PA AND IS A RUST BUCKET! I WAS YOUNG AND DUMB WHEN I BOUGHT IT.---------------------------------------------I had a 76 years ago when i was younger and I can assure u it was in worse condition!  Me and my friend did the suspension and it took us a year to get done (thanks to hooters being so close).  when it was finished i took it to the body shop and it sat there for about 3 or 4 months with no work... the guy told me the body is so messed up that i should stop now!!!---------------------------------------------UH MINE HASNT GOTTEN THAT BAD YET BUT THE RUST IS IN PRETTY MUCH THE EXACT SAME PLACES (THE REAR). THE FRONT AND REAR OUTTER QUARTERS ARE RUSTED THROUGH, THE INNER WHEEL WELLS HAVE A PERFECT LINE FROM THE TIRES THROWING UP SALT WATER AND ARE RUSTED THROUGH. I WAS LOOKING AT GETTING THE PATCH PANELS FROM LCM BUT I JUST HAVENT DONE IT. IF I COULD SELL IT I WOULD BE MORE HAPPY BECAUSE ITS NOT WHAT I WANT NOW, THATS THE REASON ITS SETTING IN THE FIELD ROTTING AWAY!

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by AVTekkThe truck is running Dominator 2600s all around. The link setup is a parallel 4link with track bar. A track bar is similar to a panhard bar but instead of mounting it at 90° to the links and having the axle shift side to side during suspension travel, a track bar mounts diagonally and is at the same plane as the lower link bars, therefor providing lateral support but no shifting. I chose this option because of how narrow the frame is (28"!) so a triangulated 4link would never work. The other options would be a wishbone 3link but would require a crossmember that would interfere with interior seating, or a watts link, but that can get expensive.---------------------------------------------Only thing I understood here is the other options are too expensive!!!

A track bar will not work with a 4-link. The axle needs to be able to roll forward to aft as the suspension travels. You will discover this when you try to cycle the suspension and it binds up against that bar. Not hatin, just letting you know that a panhard bar or watts link are your only options with a parallel 4-bar.

I can't tell from the pictures, but if the front "frame" mount and the rear "axle" mounts for the track bar are at the same pivot point area as the bushings of the lower bars, it should work just fine....

most drag cars run a parrell 4 link and trac bar setup like this burban has and ive never seen a problem with them

And I would imagine that during the build of the rear suspension that the axle was jacked up and down a dozen times..

You are all correct, except for the twisteddragger guy hah! This is a very popular setup on drag cars and the pivot point is indeed on the same plane as the lower bars (as Ive already discussed) and the suspension was cycled quite a bit throughout the build, with absolutely no binding I should add. I dont have any progress pics on me now but I should have some after the weekend!
