Ryan,  Thanks for that insight on the Red/Black wire being for the alarm to see if the engine is running. That deff means they were not talking about the Red/Black wire from the ignition assembley prob a Red/Black wire from the guage cluster. This red/black wire is heavy gage like the rest of the start and acc wires... Not sure what it goes to but since its only on in "START" ill just hook it up in that fashion.  Russ,  Thanks for mentioning high current I hadnt even thought about that aspect of the project... So your saying 30-40 amps per wire from hot? It sounds like I will end up running relays in packs in lieu of a massive high current switch just to make it cleaner.  I got these SPST automotive relays from Radio Shack for 9 bucks each. They say they are rated for 60amps for lighting and audio, and 40amps 12vdc for motor devices, do these sound like the right one?   Phil, Have you done this before on one of your 1000s of project cars you have had in your life? Hook a boy up and swing by and see the Rodeo some day. Thanks alot guys were getting real close! Miles

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by fbiphil FWIW, I've never isolated the accessories to give the starter full power, and it's never really been an issue.  I know that doesn't necessarily make it "right", but if you don't leave your ac on, and because most aftermarket radios take a few seconds to power up anyway, it probably wouldn't cause too much trouble... -Phil at FBI---------------------------------------------

I didnt say he had to, I was answering the question he asked about the wire that lost power in the start position. Now if you ask me, he should keep this feature (easy to do with relay logic) because when you crank the starter you are essentially grounding the 12v supply wire, applying the ground throughout everything that is connected at that time.

that red/blk is a second starter wire...some nissans have them, all u gotta do is power it up the same time u power up the other starter wire...also there is another website u can use to get car wiring info, its free and only takes a minute to register, u must type the web address as follows or it will not work...       techservices.audiovox.com i use it all the time cuz the boss is a dcik and wont give out the log in info for dei directechs, since they decided to lock it up like fort knox....
