Well thats what i was woundering. SBC it is. I was leaning highly that way but wasnt sure. Does ne1 know what year to get a set of single bolt motor mounts from for a chevy. (single bolt to the chassis) Well for what im giving for the truck its not going to be heavy money in it. Also can i hook the factory steering box to the chevy pump? I dont know much about the power steering issue.

wats up guys?? I just finished bagging an extended cab mazda an it lays the engine x-member with 20" wheels.  We are putting a 383 chevy sb with a carb in it. Not using any stock gauges though. All other wiring will work just fine.

http://www.welderseries.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_67&products_id=161 Here is a link for a set of engine mounts you could use. As far as the power streering goes you could probably get fittings or lines made to adapt the chevy pump to the mazda lines, a local hydraulic shop could probably help you out in that dept.

The only problem with a sbf is the distibutor being on the front, makes for hood clearance problems.  Plus a small block shevy is a bout $1000 cheaper to build to 650hp  --------------------------------------------Originally posted by h2o melonI'm actually doing a 4.3 swap in my mazda right now.I would be doing  a ford 302 if I hadn't gotten my 4.3 so cheap.I am switching to carb so there will be bare minimum of wiring to do. I am running a fuel cell and an aftermarket gauge.headlights and tail lights will not be affected by the swap.I'm hoping to be able to adapt the speedometer cable to work.I will be running a 700R4 trans.SBC will require moodifying the firewall for distributor clearance and you will need to mount the radiator in front of the core support.---------------------------------------------

You can adapt the Chevy power steering to the mazda quite easily. You need to get new hoses or have the crimp new ends on them. Easier to just make new hoses and get the 14MM fittings that the mazda steering box has.   As for wiring you can use the stock guages, oil pressure, tach, water temp easily if you want to save money.   The SINGLE bolt motor mount with rubber insulators came on the old chevy trucks 1978 would work.

For the all out head turner you need a 13bT or a 20bT rotary motor. They separate the men for the boys. Depending on how many aftermarket goodies you bolt on to your engine that's how much custom work will be required. My borther and I did a b2000 with a 12a carburated and it was the most simple swap ever ONLY 1 mound had to be fabricated which was the front engine mount and that was a walk in the park. Now 13bT or 20bT's they are more complicated because of the turbo and bown pipe and of course the wiering. Now a smll block with a carb should be easy and very easy to find a LOT of parts for. That will make your life easier and the $$ you save could be invested else were.

well i finally got up with the guy whos got the truck and went to look at it. The truck isnt in good shape but its not very bad. 5out of 10 bc it does run and drive and the fact that after a tranny ill only have 335 invested. (before clutch)  I havent had dealings with the b2000s b4 so heres my question. How common is the 6 lug? Also to lower the front and rear what do i need to buy?  I assume the front has torsion bars to lower but not positive. And the rear should use block and shackles but where to buy them is the ?.
