i plan on doing the plumbing/electrical part of my bag install on a 93 silverado myself. how much should i expect to pay for someone to weld all the brackets, notches, front upper/lower cups, and 4-link? i will pull the bed off and cut the wheel wells out, that way, all someone has to do is literally weld/install the notches, bag brackets, and 4-link brackets, etc.    I just need to know how much i should expect to pay

are you going to measure everything and mark it off as well? basically your still asking someone to do the main fabricating so it's probably gonna be more than you expect.

i know. i do plan on doing the frame stripping/measuring and all the little things. I am just acquiring bag parts little by little. I can do the electrical/plumbing but i don't know how to weld. i got the hook-up on parts/prices I just figured I can get a guesstimate on welding/labor.    i know most shops get the parts for you, but i can get everything that i want at better prices. Plus, I wanna be somewhat involved in the bagging process, know what i mean.  thanks man.

We charge 50 an hour plus parts/materials

Probably going to be about 25-40 hours or so to do what you have outlined I would estimate. Multiply that by your chosen shops hourly rate and you should have a fairly solid number to save for.

i charge by the job. its a standard price for minis and fullsizes. your really only cutting maybe a days worth of labor for one guy by doing what you say your going to do. i charge 5000 to bag a mini guaranteed frame with slams, ascos, viair 480's, avs switch box, linked, shocks, and tubs up to a 20. price goes up if you have already touched it. for fullsizes i charge 6000 up to a 22 with all the same stuff. by you doing the plumbing, electrical and taking the bed off you might save 500 dollars. but heres the problem you doing that ends up being more work for you later and the fab guy. getting the truck to leave the shop would be a pain for both..... hopefully you find someone that will  help you out with your needs....l8r

I start quoting at $50 an hour but that mainly applies to smaller jobs. Bigger jobs I'll cut the hourly rate a bit and quote based on the overall job cuz every truck is different.  Bobby you can't really charge the same price to do an s10 as you would an I beam ranger right? For big jobs every customer and every job is gonna be a little different and so will the price. Your budget is going to determine the extent of the build. You first bet is going to be to find a shop that can help you out. Most shops would much rather start with a clean slate and supply or at least help you find the parts and brands they trust. You arent going to find you save too much by cutting the box or stripping the frame yourself. Theres often a certain order things need to be done that will conflict with doing alot of that stuff yourself. I definitely wouldnt go buying parts before at least consulting the place doing the work first. Theres nothing worse than a customer who thinks they have it all figured out bringing you a stack of parts that you have to tell them was a waste of money. I think you will find that if a shop is doing the labor, the parts markup will be very minimal. I'm picky about the parts I use because if my name is going on the final product, even a blown bag or fried compressor looks like the shops fault to a lot of people, even though it could be they installed a $7 used compressor that the customer brought in. As for being involved in the bagging process, its generally not an option, unless you are friends with the shop owner or something, in which case it likely wont be a standard price job.

from the sounds of it, i think it would be best for you to just find someone on here (SSM) that is local to you, that has some welding/fabrication skillz and ask them to help you.i'm pretty sure there is plenty of people on here that would be willing to help you out. like joel and bobby said if you bring it to a shop they are gonna wanna do it their way, and unless you know the owner you are probably not gonna be able to hang around while the truck is being worked on.

yeah i charge the same. the worst is when one guys tells his buddies that he spent 5000 to bag his truck and another say hey he charged me 7000 what the shit. its easier to keep them all the same... people here dont care what truck they have they think they are all the same.
