01 f-150 running rough

so i have a 01 f-150 with a 5.4 in it and it's been sitting for a while and i went to drive it today and its running a little rough. any thoughts?

Could be the fuel. How long was it sitting for???

about a month and a half. put high octain in it as soon as i left the house. if i ease on the gas it feels strong. but if i put the hammer down i can feel it struggle bad.

could be a number of things tim .. cats could be bad them motors were bad for the spark plugs breaking off in the head if you have the coil packs on each cylinder coil pack could be bad

someone else told me that same thing about the coil packs. is there anyway to test them?

If you pull 1 wire off and nothing changes chances are its that coil pack. I went through 3 coil packs on my 99 f150. Loved the motor but hated the notorious facts about blowing the plugs outta the head, and running through coil packs.

ah. that's just too damn smart.. guess you don't really think about the simple things you can do when you feel like beating your head on the asphalt!

that happened to me too.  if you look at the coil packs, the front passenger one is newer.   i took it to my buddy who had a scanner or whatever you call those things and told me the exact coil that went bad.  did you hose down the engine or get any water in there?  that will short out the coil packs. 

yeah i noticed that one of them was new. didnt get it wet or anything just sat for a little over a month.

change the plugs and check the coils. also change the 02 sensors. mine went out in my 2000 5.4 and it ran rich as balls and would run like shit
