Very nice. After staring at the beautiful screwdriver holder, I know that the plastic coolant bottle cap must be bugging you.

Ryan, I love the look and sheen of the cap, but believe it or not were actually going to do a black light texture on it to make it look plastic. Then all the caps will match, this one, coolant bottle, oil fill and brake reservoir. So it's actually not bugging me at all. Might even try to find someone who does pad printing and print something on it to match the others even more.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it's what keeps us going around here!

We got all of the small loose ends buttoned up under the hood over the weekend and got some final shots of everything put together. Now we just have to decide on colors and finishes for all of the pieces.

I really like the raw metal. It shows off just how precise and well finished your work is. Maybe powdercoat the intake to the match the supercharger and clearcoat the rest.

I do have to agree with Ryan here, you could have your truck next to another with all the same kinda work done under the hood and once painted they might seem the same BUT media blast both and you will see the other guy using filler to hide all his wavy work. Not saying there is something wrong with using fillers to get your work straight but yours is just awesome. I guess at the same time if it was my truck I would feel like its note "done" because no paint or powder coat. If my 2 cents matter i would clear at least the aluminum work. Also you said you are painting the cap black, why not just make caps for the others so you could leave them bare?

The aluminum will probably stay with the brushed look and we're looking at having OEM style badges made for pieces to make things look factory under the hood. We don't really want to clear everything just because it won't be durable and we don't want to pull everything apart in a year to then paint it all. We'll end up painting it all, we're just trying to decide on a color and looking for something other then black right now.

The problem with making an aluminum cap is that's a pretty complex cap. GM runs one cap for both the vented portion of the cooling system and for the overflow bottle which is non vented. Basically half of the cap is vented and half is not. We made the bottle and machined the neck to work with both of these features, however that makes the cap a little too complex to just make out of aluminum.

We started re-shaping all of the rear inner door jam piece. We opted to re-shape things because we didn't like the way the dual humps were going to look with the added piece we had to add to clear the tire and the piece that the factory added. We cut out all of the factory portion and made a sweeping bend that will make everything look original with one hump.

Where we are now. A little more welding to do, and some grinding and metal finishing. This ones going to be a little more difficult as there's no access to the backside.
