Sounds like a good plan! Just look at how many old Toyota pickups and Hardbodies are STILL being used as work trucks 20 years later! It would be a good move, hell i'd try to buy one just to bodydrop it! haha!

well lets just hope they will acutally accomplish this properly. Most manufacturers add too many features and options, and forget that it is supposed to be a truck. Chevy is a prime example with their declining sales with their colorados, and canyons, both of which will be discontinued next year. I have had 2 of them, because they are still a small-mid size truck. But when it comes to the price, I might aswell buy a silverado, because for 8 grand more, I get better towing capacity, payload, etc.....And then it comes to currently available midsize trucks, they Toyotas take the take, better flow, better towing, braking, etc....I would personally love to see basic trucks with little to no options come back, because for many this is all they need. I recently priced out a "Cheap" car for my wife, and by the time you add an automatic transmission, its priced over $20k cdn. So break it down into a basic 48month payment, or finance rate, and your still $500 cdn a month. It definatly makes me think twice about buying new cars. -Brad

part of the article that scares me is that statement about four doors.  Sure making four doors is a nice option to have available but I have a bad feeling that it will be the primary model of the vehicle, which inevitable I believe would kill sales. I see far too many regular cab rangers, s10's, and toyotas running around as dailys, delivery trucks and other work vehicles to say that any of these people need or want the four door.  I guess we'll see how this turns out.  I'm sure they'll manage to F it up somehow

i love mini trucks, ESPECIALLY the old ones, with the bed rails with hooks in them. you know how they brought out the pt cruiser... to resemble old cars, i wish they'd do that with mini trucks

sad thing is, in other countrys, they made 4 door versions of just about every mini sold that looked exactly like us models. i know i would want one.

That is still a good thing to see.  I'm glad that someone is finally looking at what most people want, not just a few guys with enough money to spend $50k on a truck.  That is the main thing for me not driving a newer pickup instead of my Magnum, there is just too many options and fancy things for my liking.

A basic pick up...Standard cab with an extra cab option...just something you can kick around through shit in the back gets good gas mileage and drive the piss out of...just like the old school mini truck...
