contaminated hydraulic fluid, or low quality seals are what i have learned can lead to seal failure the quickest.

www.hydroholics.net sells seal kits that inlcude the poly pak seal. i believe it flares out under pressure to create a tighter seal.

just to add on to the original post, don't forget to bleed the plumbing in the area where cylinder was disassembled (usually fitting on top of cylinder). The goal is to rid the oil system of compressable air pockets. Generally speaking, the highest point near the area needing to be bled will work the best if you want to gravity bleed. Make sure to tap on the oil line you're bleeding (use a rag in between wrench and tubing on hardlines) with the wrench a few times to bring up any air pockets that could rise. not properly bled hoses leads to foaming in the lines near the cylinder which can assist in premature seal wear. just throwing that out there

when i had my s-10 i had to replace them every 250 to 500 miles. what caused that?

If you replaced them that frequently then something was wrong. Even standard o-rings with accumulators should last longer than that. A common problem is if you let your cylinders lay around prior to install, in wet climates, rust can sometimes form on the inside of the cylinders walls. That will kill your seals real quick. If the inside of your cylinders look clean, then try a polypak on the top next time.

NOT ALL POLYPAKS ARE CREATED EQUAL! We have done a lot of research and trial and error with different types of polypaks. If you need some, shoot us an email and we'll get you the ones that work best for our application.
