on a 98 ford ranger what tool do i need to flip the lower ball joints and tie rods? like what kinda drill bit and such.....and how much i would need to raise the uca's
 
im working on a friends truck and trying to get the front to lay right and also repairing the rear setup as well

no, the best way is to get djm control arms.  Is he trying to eliminate all camber or use his factory arms?

you dont. uniball the upper is the best way to go.

You should be able to lay out on 20s with DJM upper and lower arms. Do not raise the uppers, flip the tie rods, or flip the balljoints it will mess all your geometry up and create bumpsteer. Pull the boots off the DJM upper balljoints and make sure the balljoints are clocked correctly, they had a problem for a while with them being pressed in wrong. Check that before anything.

Check that before anything. ---------------------------------------------ok cool...he is also still using his sway bar and the sway bar brackets on the djm lowers are hitting the frame when layed out too

the sway bar could be your biggest issue, I can't say I have personally seen a 98+ ranger laying with the sway bar.  Also, check to make sure that he has notched the frame for the tie rod.   btw, I wasn't trying to be a dick, I read your question really fast yesterday and thought you were asking if you should, not what to use.

I raised my uppers raised the rack and shortened the lowers, with no major negative effects on steering and handlin......now its no autocross truck but shit its not bad. Ford front suspension design sucked to begin with so its no loss to me
