What I like about S-10's is that they can look good for cheap!!! If you plan to build something to full show, go with the Taco, but if you wanna build something to cruise everyday and keep simple, go with the dime.

Everyone says "Oh but everyone has one, etc etc etc. and at shows, YES a lot of people have S-10's but how many bagged/bodydropped S-10's do you see in your hometown? For me its not all about the shows. Its about going to the grocery store to pick up some Frosted Flakes and my truck just being all laid out in the parking lot confusing the hell out of people.

I would be perfectly content if I got an S-10 and bagged it to drive daily!

unless tou just plan to bag it and have a daily then that would be ok but you gota think how many s10's are out there and it would be nearly impossable to make a one off cause the mad numbers of bagged s10 on wheels ...if i were to get another mini i would get a older one like a luv or old mazda ...you still see them but no where like the s10 or taco

I have owned both. S-10's are cheap to build, but my '99 taco I built and am rebuilding now didn't cost me much more than the s-10 with comparable parts.  I really like the lines and looks of a well built taco.  And my 4 cyl 2.4L Taco got way better gas milage than my 4 cyl 2.2L Extreme did and my taco would also beat my buddies 4.3L s-10 too. I like both but if I was choosing just one to buy it would be a Taco!!

either or, like was said above for me personally its not all about shows, having a 96 taco myself i just want to be able to hit some switches every now and then while driving or make a noticeable entrance to some places, yet have a reliable truck, and that is attainable with a s-10 and tacoma, just the quality of the work it gets to it.

In the end its all about what you really like. I mean to me both are good trucks, and if you just want a bagged daily to cruise it doesn't really matter on either one except there are like a million places that sell bolt together parts for dimes. Its all about what you want and what you feel more comfortable in. For me its toyota for now on, but thats just personal preference.

i have owned two toyota pickups.i never had any probblems with my toyota.i have had it 5 years.my dad has a 2000 toyota tacoma 4wd sr5 extendedcab with a 3.4 v6 and 5-spd and he loves it.i have never owned a s-10 or sonoma.but my freind with 95 sonoma is having water pump issues and raidiatior issues too.it's a 4.3 liter with a auto.he had a 96 s-10 with a 2.2 liter and 5-spd.it had radiatior issues too.i love my toyota and want a coiled front suspension.i will probbably do a 1999-2004 toyota tacoma.it would match my white 93 toyota 2wd pickup.this one will be white and a 2wd and have a 5-spd.i'm still going to test drive the trucks too.
