Apparently, Spell Check is *dying* LOL!   For this topic... to me, the scene is slowing rapidly for those of us that have been around for many years. The shows are not as plentiful and there are not as many sick rides at the shows. As already said, the people we got to know and enjoy in the scene are moving on whether they want to or not it somehow becomes less important than other things in life.   Maybe the truth is, overall quality is dying. Too many people showing trucks that would rather abuse than pay to get painted. There are some amazing vehicles out there at each show... but I remember shows where 3 out of every 5 trucks had been in or were going to eventually be in one of the truck magazines.   Just my opinion... I'm sure it will annoy many of you.

Bryan your opinion annoyed me. I have to agree with the original poster. The scene isnt dying. Of course people move on, they grow up. Minitruckin isn't and will never really be a grown mans passion. Granted, there are many older guys in the scene now, but the younger guys are what will keep this scene moving. And one day, theyll grow up and have kids and build a 55 chevy. I can live with that.  Someobdy said technology is making the world smaller, you couldnt have hit it better. Back in the day the ony way to know about large shows like pigeon forge was to read about it, thats how I found out about Showfest. Now we know whats going on, while its happening. We dont have to wait and read about it anymore. I really dont feel like rambling. So ill keep it short.  When i saw the topic i knew that somebody had hit it right on the head. The scene dying BS is just that BS. The scene will always be what you make of it. And to me, its great! I love it and I enjoy every second of it, drama included. Because you know what, they're is no solution for drama. Ban all you want, and cry about drama this and drama that but it will still be there.  We cant cry Aids away, we definately cant cry drama away.

I actually came into the scene from the custom scene...  I enjoy it so much more because although you get some folks who just talk shit just because, I found it was way worse elsewhere.  I would go up to the older guys and try to pick there brain and they would just talk down to me like some redheaded stepchild.  I wanted to learn some of the old methods that I felt were dying off  ie leading and stuff like that.  However since I've got into Minitruckin I've had the great opportunity to talk to some of the most respected people in the scene.  Max Fish, Eric Saliba just to name a few and ya know what they were way cool.  Answered any question I had and tried to point me an a good direction.  Thats why Im now in love with this scene.  Go to a show and bounce idea's off each other and see what sounds great.  There are pro's and cons with everything but I'm here to stay with people who think like me.. Im not in any clubs but i've partied with many folks from many different clubs....   However I do believe that alot of people are building draggin trucks to take to the show..  Which is cool if thats what your into.  It would be nice to see some more hot rod quality Minitrucks in scene though...  But lets not forget that many of these draggers and "hack jobs" will learn from there mistakes and continue to improve in there skills...  We've all been there and done some sketchy work at first but that how you learn...  I mean I fucked up like 2 roofs on a 50 ford trying to figure out how to do a fastback style chop before I got it right..   The scene isnt dying though its just evolving with the times and it will continue to do that again and again....

I remember more.   The scene is always dying. Reality its always changing. For me, I've got family kids etc so I don't spend nearly as much time on rides as I used to.     Go back to a land before Internet. Shows lived by print and word of mouth. In today's scene you can talk to anyone anywhere in the world and stay up to date with them instantly. Social networking sites have greatly helped this. The scene will always be changing. Just like clubs, there will be a time when a bunch of killer rides come out. Then it gets quiet for a bit. Only problem with the cycles for shows is that its harder to keep an event going on the low times because of the costs to put on the event.    The scene will never die just change.

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by BAD_INCmost tend to gravitate towards street machines/rods as they mature and get more disposable income. The s10 is the 34 Ford of 1955. Cheap, easy to build and play with, and easy to throw away when you grow up.---------------------------------------------This is partly true. I have for some part given up on building trucks until I can afford to build one like I want, but in the same respect I would love to have a 6-700 HP 03-04 Mustang Cobra Terminator. But as some of you have stated, there isn't much of a MT scene in my town. Never really has been. That's why I have always hung out with different people. The Mustang scene and Drag racing in general over populate my area. Not to mention with a wife and a 2 year old who I try my best to spoil the heck out of, I don't have the time or money to build the truck of my dreams.
