even though this motor has a low compression ratio (8.9:1), would yall say its still pretty streetable? like say if i wanted to drive it to a show 100 miles away, would i be able to do that without problems? or does the compression ratio have nothing to do with that?

compression wise yes its a street motor, most stock engines have 8.5-1 ratio, compression and cams are what usually makes the engine streetable because to much cam means little to no vaccum for like breaks and means has to run a higher octane fuel. that engine would be perfect for street, as for daily not sure because gas mileage will probably suck

What you have there is a very strong street motor.  I would not say that its going to lay down 450 horses, but i could see a strong 350 to 400 hp.  Alot of that has to do with the cam ratio and weather or not the heads are port match with the intake and the cam is in the flashing range for the heads and setup is proper.  You need to make sure you get the cam card for that motor.  I didnt see any info about the oil pump and it looks to have a stock ol pan on that motor.  I would make sure to put a 7 quart to make sure you dont starve that high output motor.  If you decide later on to go with a blower or any additive to your motor you need to make sure you dont put anything to massive on that motor, being its a stock gm block and please get a stud gridle to mount on your main bolts.  Make sure that you have a windage tray in the bottom of that oil pan so that it doesnt hurt the hp on your motor.  Also find out if he used factory rods or aftermarket with wrist pin bushings in them.  Just a wild guess at the price is close to the parts he has in it.  those heads full assemblied run about 1100 dollars and then the jesel valve train is around 600.  Then the crank and all the extra items he has is close to 3 grand, depends on if he caught that stuff on sale or even bought it at a super chevy show.  You need to find out if he put a solid roller cam shaft in there and when you find out the flashing point on that cam shaft then you can know what stall to put in your tranny.  So jus be careful with your new toy.  Its alot more than just throwing a powerhouse in your cradle and riding.
