I know for me, I go to shows to hang out and enjoy myself...not getting a trophy doesn't bother me personally....but I do understand that many enjoy it for a sense of accomplushment....but like I have said before about Last Resort....if your coming for a trophy your coming for the wrong reason....come to meet new friends, reunite with old ones and have one bad ass time!

For me it was always fun beating trailer queens when the toy was daily. Especially when I drove it to the big runs and the rest didn't.    As far as Stock Mild Wild. We still do that at Bring the Noize for most classes. We do have some classes broken out with street custom etc but thats usually for vehicles that have that at the standard shows they go to. Stock Mild Wild is broken down by the number of Body Mods you have.   Main thing just a build a ride you like and let it fall where it may at shows. Back in 96 when the Toy was white, wires, stock exterior, bagged and bodydropped, it was put in anywhere from Stock to mild to Wild depending on how the shows felt like classifying the mods on it.

I love going to the shows and cruises to hang out and bs with everyone. I've been taking my truck to local shows not for the trophies but to show the progress. But it would be nice to give some of the not so wild trucks a chance.

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by N2BNLOW Saying all trailer queens should show against each other is hating.  ---------------------------------------------thats funny, i specifically said "i am not hating on them. just looking at a "fair" showing class for those less financially fortunate". cause you cant totally agree that a guy with $20,000+ in shop-built truck and sponsorships is so comparable to a guy who busts his ass paycheck-to-paycheck building his own truck. its shear reality man, some guys will never win and thats why they choose not to enter. (e.i. the scene is dying?) almost like wrestling someone like "bastista" when you look like "waldo", just a non-win situation.as far as trophys, seems no one goes there for them yet alot of duff is raised when it comes down to awards and who won what and who didnt. ive seen it for over 20 years now. the reason for trophys is so everyone there knows who had the best ride, isnt it? otherwise it would be a "hang out and enjoy each other" , not a show ---------------------------------------------Originally posted by FXDGRNDFor me it was always fun beating trailer queens when the toy was daily. Same thing happened to the sound off scene way back when competing against $20,000 systems the average guy just couldn't hang and eventually that scene took a major dive.  The competition gets so intense and gets to such a high level which I believe is where we are, that soon there will be no daily drivers ever getting love at shows. It only took me 23 years to get mine to what it is now, thru many stages.  Ive chased trophies, redone my truck to suit judges numerous times, spent mad amounts of unnecessary money and have found that if you aint happy with it re do it, if the judges aint happy who gives a crap.  I always loved the multi classes as it gives a very broad variety of recognition and you will pull in a larger variety of vehicle at the event.  Our show Relaxin At The Rock will be Top 30 this year but would love to change to multi classes once this show progresses to where we want it.  Stay tuned for that news.

I think if more people were building static dropped minis there would be classes for them! I mean, come to any show in the North East and 90%+ of the trucks are bagged.

The reason a bagged/bodied truck would most likely beat out a static dropped truck with the same mods is because of the amount of work done. Its more work to bag a truck then it is to static drop one. When I judge vehicles I look at everything. I would rather see QUALITY work of 1 or 2 things shaved properly then a truck with a molded skin that is crooked as hell and cracking out shaved doors.

I couldn't care less if its shop built or garage built. All I know is it took someone with skills to build it. Don't get me wrong its impressive if you built it yourself, but that doesn't add any points to your judging sheet. I'm sure thats different with some guys, but I don't have the skills to build a truck, so I see nothing wrong with working my ass off to pay for it to be done properly.

Another case in point...... Went to a show today. They had a Minitruck Wild and Mild class. I entered my truck in the minitruck mild cause it is static dropped. The guy who got 1st has a really clean static dropped truck and deserved it, but the guy who got 2nd just had a GMC Canyon with 22's...thats it. It kinda discouraged me a little. I worked hard and spent hard earned money on my truck and a guy with a stock truck with wheels beat me.  And I'll say again......I'm NOT in it for the trophies, but it is discouraging when things like this happen. So I've decided I'm still gonna build my truck for me and not worry about goin to shows. I'll still go and hang out with everyone and meet new people in the scene. But my truck will get finished the way I want it......static.

This part here is the best attitude to have.  I've been doing this for a while, and taken home my share of trophies.  I've also been screwed out of a couple...getting beat by a stock Scion with hubcaps in the SUV class was kinda rough..lol.  Bottom line, you need to build and show for yourself, not for a big piece of plastic at the end of the day.

Okay, static drop or bags has nothing to do with your class. It's the number of mods you've got done. (at least at our show)   At Showfest we have quite a few classes for the most popular makes and models because we get so many vehicles. I think we have Street, Mild, Wild, and Radical. We use a point system to decide what class you'll go into. So for instance, window tint may be a 2 point item and body drop may be 20 points. We try to have points for just about everything you can modify.   So say your points ad up to 92. Wild class is something like 80 - 100 points so that the class you belong in. We think it is THE most fair way to do classing. Similar number of mods = similar class. That's what's worked for us anyway.   And for judging, we break out the 4 main areas of the vehicle –– Exterior, Interior, Engine, and Undercarriage. Then we have about 5 things we look at under each. Cleanliness, Quality of mods, Detail, etc.

Trying to understand the judging process. Sounds like everyone does it different. Mine by no means is a show vehicle it's in primer and still fixing and tweaking things. For underconstruction do you have rule that it has to be able to drive?
