Jumbo you're just a complete mess! LOL I didn't think anyone was dogging on me at all. I'll keep the truck stored away and maybe someday when I have more tools, and a place of my own to work on it and a lot more experience, I'll finish it or make it a work truck. I have no plans to do anything else with it anytime soon. It's actually been kind of nice not thinking about it everyday and coming up with new ideas for it. I had a lot of stuff I wanted made by a CNC machine. I talked to Ben about doing a 3d rendering of it awhile back, but I didn't want get back into the list of mods just to tease myself with something I won't ever see built LOL. I've  lost all interest in the truck. Oh well... I'll think of something different to build next time.

I just found this build wish I had found it earlier.  I also have a 94 ram on the build.  Not a show build but a build.  I didn't ever want a show build too much responsibility I knew I couldn't live upto.   I am learning as I go along.  Everything has been done in my driveway since I did not have a garage big enough to fit the truck.  I have learnt early that if I can't do it myself then it will not get done.  I have only taken my truck to a few people for simple things that I just didn't have the tools for at the time.  IE like a ball joint to install into DJM control arms.  I didn't have the tools. Brought it to a garage to be installed.  They used a 20 ton press snapped the ball joint to pieces and didn't tell me about it.  Luckily, I needed to reaplace the joint again to install the lowering spindles that is when I noticed the joint came apart.  $200 later got the tool to install the joints myself, problem solved.   I have a site just dedicated to my truck http://www.mydodgeram.ca/  hopefully it might help you to get infected again with the building bug

Thanks OzPlanet and Tony for your replies! Now that I gave up I will always wonder "what if" but it's really no different than when the build up was taking place. It's been nice not thinking about it everyday and trying to get things in order. Even though Tonneau Gate hasn't been mass produced (yet) I still feel that I have a marketable product that would hold its own once it was being produced. My goal was always to have one of the best Dodge Rams ever built sitting at Sema with my invention which was built "out of pocket" and without sponsors. I was putting everything into the truck so it would take care of my marketing and advertising plus it would give people a chance to see a new product in person and get an idea of what it would be like for their truck.  Since everything was going to be top of the line, I was hoping to be a "spokesman" for the other parts that I used on my truck, (catalogs, website ads, magazine ads etc) which would keep me in spotlight that would make tonneau cover manufacturers take notice in my invention and my designs. I always felt it would be hard for a tonneau cover company to pass up an idea from an individual that was getting a lot of publicity on his own and doing it on a big stage.  Just like location, location, location, is important for any physical business, being everywhere you can via the internet, print, and at shows was always my marketing technique to create a frenzy over my product. Why wouldn't they want to "team up" with someone that was getting the attention and demand from the public?

Yes I still have my prototype but it isn't up to par. I was planning on building a new one for my daily but I lost interest in the truck and I still haven't finished it. It would be my best way to advertise but the truth is, I'm worn out with custom trucks. I know it sounds stupid to put off my invention, but I've been this long without a prototype already... Maybe next year but it's just hard to say right now. I'm tired of basing my life around an "idea", I just want to get back to having fun and not worry so much about the business side of things. I'm not giving up on Tonneau Gate because I still have people signing my petition! I just need a break and start enjoying life more... I'm too addicted to give up on custom vehicles and I don't plan on going anywhere. I just want to have more fun and not have to worry about deadlines etc.
