Ok, so I believe I've finally figured out a way to get my late father's 88 Ram 50 in my name.  So along with my 88 Ram 50 Macro, I'll have a standard cab shortbed.  Now I'm thinking of building the macro for the wife and building my dad's truck for me.  With this decision, the 4g63 will go with my dad's truck.  So I was trying to think of what the old man would have loved.  He was big into Corvettes and I was thinking of a 57 grille teeth in a cali combo.  Maybe do the interior similar to a vette of similar year.  But come on, it's a square Ram50.  So his other passion we both actually shared was racing.  Mainly dirt track (Sprint cars to EDM) or any circle track.  So I'm wondering about a race theme that isn't too gay, redneckish, or plain retarded.  What do you think?  Has this been done tastefully yet?

That sounds like a sweet idea! are you considering wraping it or painting it? If you'd be interested in a vinyl wrap as an alternative then hit me up.    But if done right that could be a cool build, keep us posted!

it might be cool if instead of moog edelbrock jegs msd stickers go viair slams suicidedoors, kts signs and graphics  and such. adding the separation from race to race themed

I think its a great idea. I thought about doing this, myself. There is a little fronteir riding around SC lowered on some stock car wheels with whit letter tires. Number 43 on the doors. Cedar Creek Collision on the bed. Even has a piece of aluminum riveted to the tailgate for a wing. Itd be really great if you could incoroprate some of the suspension and drivetrain pieces in the build.

Well don't want to go too extreme but just take enough away to carry a theme.  So of course would have to have a cage and some tube work thru out the chassis.  Also, thinking of an all metal dash with square angles and use of exposed rivets or bolts.  Then run a modified rear cover for the bed due to tubing from cage.  Also, tighten up the gap between the bed and cab.  I'm thinking a shaved front bumper with no holes would suffice.  Then a simple paintjob.  Maybe a number on the rear quarter panel.  "Sponsors" same as body color for a ghost like effect.  Then some simple black rims similar to something found on a race car.  Nothing too over the top.  But tastefull.  See the drag race style and the hot rod style...but I have this idea from a doodle.  I think it could be pulled off.  Just have to get out of Iraq first!

hummm, well If I saw you driving down the my street I would say that you are ANOTHER devoted rednek not a custom ride builder. If you go with the concept and not the "same" idea you might be on to something if done right.  Good Luck!

Not following?  Same?  Concept?  I wouldn't be duplicating anyones race car if that's what your referring to as "same".  I might just sketch up a little doodle to show you all what I'm referring to.  I'm not wanting a redneck shit kicking nascar looking truck.  I think it can be done tastefully.  Race truck and mini truck have a couple of things in common already.  Graphics, shaved body sides, flush bed cover, lowered ride height, etc.  Yeah, once I finish the piece I'm working on now, I'll get to work on sketching my idea.

being a former late model racer I love the idea and had planned to go with this theme in my dime. I have the all alm. cup motor and a 9" ford ready to go..  great idea just leave the sponsers and numbers off of it.  if you spend the money this would be sick. if you do it do it big.  you can run stainless line through out and really make it sick!

Well thinking about old time micro midgets and sprint cars, I'm thinking red, some old style pinstriping, maybe some Gold leaf lettering a number?

I would give it the feel of the older style nascars from the 70's. There is a bunch of people now, actually building replica old nascars. Dont go crazy with graphics, just keep it clean and simple. I think Hot Rod or Super Chevy not to long ago did a build with a laguna and it was flat black with orange Holley Logos. Pretty cool car besides the orange, made me think of Halloween.
