what year explorer brake booster will work on my truck?
thacru78   +1y
Not sure...I didn't have any booster clearance problems on the truck I did.

i believe mine is a 98. i think most of the year ranges work and I've heard of some using ranger boosters successfully too

Off the pics it looks like it's not to different then what the rest of us had.

but your description on what you did to the tie rods throws me off? It sounds way different then what the rest of us have done......

You did waaaay more then necessary.

All the rest of us did was use a tapered reamer to drill the spindle hole.
Take the tie rod end off. Cut 1/2"-3/4" off the threads.
Screw the tie rod back in all the way.
Put tie rod into spindle facing up.

Bada-Bing .... no problems

also. on a 265/35/22 I didnt have to notch the frame for the tie rods
and, switching the control arms, No tubbing, stock booster
DIRTY530   +1y
i needed to notch the frame because my tie rods are longer then yours. i am running a 265/40/22

my toe doesn't change at all.

the reason i hit my brake booster is because my upper control arms are on the factory sides keeping my caster angle with in spec

i didn't do to much work my truck drives and handles like it did before i bagged it im not saying your way is wrong it just didnt work for me
