Dot ptc air fittings have been on my truck since 01 and I still don't have a leak and I drive it daily 75 miles to work.

i have all stainless ptcs and have zero leaks, i got tired of messing around with stupid compression fittings and having to replace shit. i think ptc fittings are well worth it. but get a quality DOT set

I believe that comp. fittings are the way to go. If you have leak in a comp. fitting it's been improperly installed. I usually install them loose intentionally and tighten them little by little until they're leak free, over-tightened comp. fittings will leak just as under-tightened.

PTC fittings will work flawlessly the first installation with a new nylon line. If there is any imperfection visible on the outside of the line where the o-ring seals, you will have a leak. Now it may be ridiculously small but you will have a leak. The problem is you can do nothing to fix the leak but shorten or replace the air line.

I guess my point is that it is easier to damage a nylon line than a brass ferrule.
