I installed a starter solenoid...between the starter an the battery. It's a Ford Starter solenoid I got from Autozone. I then controlled that solenoid with my remote to my alarm. The function on my alarm was set for a 5 second on...then off when I activate it. I would hit my remote button...then start the truck. Without the remote...unless your under the truck jumping the solenoid...it will not start. I did the same for my main power wire...but I used a Stinger 200 amp solenoid. When I left the truck unattended for awhile I would use my remote to disengage the solenoid...technically killing power to the entire truck. I did run a seperate wire to my radio so it had power at all times, but my switches, back-up compressors, door poppers, etc had no power when the solenoid was disengaged. It was 2 full proof ways of leaving the truck unstealable. Only way in the truck was to break the window...only thing you could steal would of been personal belongings and the radio...my subs and amps were mounted in a way that you had to be able to get under the truck to unbolt them. Only thing I suggest is make sure you have a few backup plans of the solenoids fail. I had a wire directly to my door popper under the hood to open the door, main power wire solenoid was accessible inside the truck, I could then get the truck off the ground if the starter solenoid had failed...after 14 months and 20,000 miles it worked flawlessly.
