my dually is wider then your dually!

well i finally got my truck back from the bodyshop. i widend my fenders so i could tuck the 4 24.5's out back. 4.5" on each side so its 9" total. shaved that gay ass body line above the wheel well to. and also reshaped the curve to better match the flare on the front wheels.

oh, how i did it. 90% of the fender was lined with sheetmetal, a ton of holes was drilled in it. panell bond, alot of it was applyed to the metal, the inside of the dually fender was sanded and then we stuck the metal. after it dried i also put self tapers all in it to geive it more bracing. then i cut it, widend it and welded a section in the midde. the rest is fiberglass. most is about 1" thick. it has metal support around the hole wheel well. down the body lines and vertically. all of it atatchs to the bed.



i think it may be safe to say if my truck isnt the first this bodystyle, its one of only a handfull with stretched fenders!

Mine is narrowed and it sucks to drive straight in a lane. I can only imagine the battle you have to go through in construction zones. My brother is doing the same to his '97 dually. It's retarded wide with the stock axle. They are real ugly with all the glass and screws, but they clean up real nice when they are body worked and painted. Nice work! Looks sick!

Yup mine is probly the same width and im riddin the lines everywhere I drive. I love it though. It keeps people in there lanes when they see a wheel commin there way.

i was going to narrow mine but didnt have the room in my shop to redo the rear. so i just thought why not try? i like the way it looks alot. looks "tough" i think. i have 2 brand new gm bedsides in the boxes if anyone is looking for some?

should it? mine is wider then the stockfloord 93 in my shop by 3"s. mine is 8'10" wide. fender lip to fender lip.

I think your thread title is fine. I have seen more trucks that are narrowed than I have widend. I preffer the wide look because like you said it looks a little more burley.

There was a guy out here in AZ selling a dually that was narrowed and he claimed that the truck was done the "Right" way rather than making the fenders wider. I dont see how you can say which way is right or wrong. Its all in your prefferance.

i agree the wider looks really badass. i cant wait to get started on mine. altho it is a ford dually i know i know i love them tho.
