OK guys,.. Here is my build up over the last couple of months,..I Have never welded, Painted a car, used bog or ever attempted anything like this before.A real learning curve for me and to be honest im proud of myself for giving it a go.I think for a at home garage job,.. It works well!
So here goes,...I didnt get pics of it - But I removed all the existing floor and made new towers for the tub to sit on.renforced the whole structure as it was failry wobbly before,.. It didnt have much meat holding it on!.so once that was done, I started getting measurements for the steel. I got my Brite steel (1.5mm) and folded it with a press. 90 deg fold along the top on the tub and a radius bend in the internal corners. This is A pic of them just sitting in there.
After I was happy with the lacment and shape, I cut the curve to match the chassis line. Then I painully welded around the entire tub sides and all joins in the new works.anout 913297032190732 tack welds. I also cut and put a stailnless steel access door for the battery after making a sub frame for it to sit in inder the new floor
Once all that was tacked and ground smooth - I got my sun metal disc and proceeded to make the wheel tubs.I had to make the tubs wider to not only take the wheels, but to also look beefier.
Then I had to make a radius fold to match the rest of the tub.
Cut out the metal to fit in the new tubs. The rad corners were a bastard to do - Basically pilled with weld to use minimal bog... gahhh
Now they are welded in and smoothed I took the tub off the truck.
A bit of bog to smooth out any imperfections
Then HB Primer
Primes the Chassis
Painted 2K chassis
Bumper, Tank and odds and ends got attention
Did I mention I HATE sanding?
BAM - Paint!.. In the garage - shhhh
Air Tank work
Masked the tank up for the Aluminumn leaf.
POW
Painted the steering wheel, Dash and door cardsBeing a metal dash, I moved my valves to where the ignition was,.. and moved all the accessories to the other side.
