I'd rather see that than some of the work of the 'fabricators' that post on SSM. 60% of that stuff is just downright scary.

I know, where did all the pride and craftmanship into people's work go nowa days....

its going away with since all the "kits" came around. Everyone jumping on "kits" no need to fabercate anything and any teenager can install it. But hell, i finally bought a notch kit 6 months ago for a customer, and ended up installing it for him, and I was thinking, thats just 2 easy, dont even have to think anymore.

it's not so much the kits, it's just do people not take pride in how good, or strong for that matter, their welds are? do they not care about having their beds cut to total shit? do they not care about the 5,000 wires hanging out every where, or that it's a fire hazard waiting to happen? yeah, i understand not every one has all the big money tools to do some really clean trick stuff, some of the cleanest trucks i've seen have been built in someone's garage, barn, gank ass shack behind their house. if some people would just slow down, take their time, put some thought into it, it would make a huge difference! so what if you won't see it, or it'll be covered up later down the road, you know it's there!? i guess me being a body tech for years, i was always taught that when repairing damage, you want it to look like it never happened, you want it to be strong and safe, and if someone was to really, REALLY look at the car, you want all the gaps to match, seam sealers to match the factory, the undercoatings, etc. no sand scratchs, the paint to match, no blend lines, you want them to never know you were there..... that's pride in your work, and that's what alot of people building trucks today have lost, lack, or just plain don't have....... As a Painter for a local body shop here, I completely understand what you are saying!

I think it's a pride thing too. There's this big-dick mentality going around that if YOU didn't build it, it sucks. You you get a bunch of idots who think they are J.J. because they watched Monster Garage a couple of times, so they buy a set of bottles and a welder and start hacking.

Me personally, I can't weld for crap. I have a buddy who is L.A. certified and he does all my welding for me.

You just gotta know your boundarys.

now thats some shit if your welding on a comercial job in the LA basen you have to have that cert. but your awsa card that you got to have to weld in the rest of the state is no good But here's the best part the LA cert. bilaws are a direct copy of the awsa bilaws basicly if you want to work in LA you going to pay for your job
